My Phone Won’t Turn On

When you press the button to activate the phone, the phone just sits there like a useless brick (even if you have the charger plugged in).

Zte Z793c Sim Card Location

Low Charge

The battery may not have any charge. To see if the issue is a battery without charge, simply charge the device for an estimated 15 minutes. Grab a cup of your favorite warm drink, perhaps a good book too, and just wait for the device to charge. If the phone does not turn on, then either the issue is in the charger, the port, or the battery itself.

Faulty Battery

If none of the below or above techniques don’t work, the battery is nonfunctional, and thus your phone is subsequently inactive. While being a stressful situation, a brighter outlook is that you just got a brand new paper weight.

Faulty Charger

Check your charger. Is it a USB 2.0 cable? If not, then it's the wrong cable. But if it is a USB 2.0 cable, then the next thing to check is to see if the cable itself is damaged. Bending of the end can cause a tear in the cord, and cause a loss of functionality. Look for exposed metal (do not touch when plugged in.) If no damage is spotted at that point, go on to check the connector. Find another USB component to compare with the connector and identify damages. If damages were identified at any point on this list, discard the cable and acquire a new one.

Faulty Charger Port

If the port is broken rather than dirty then you’ll need to be like Christopher Walken, and get your handy dandy soldering iron out to make the repair.

Dirty Charger Port

Check the port to make sure it is clear of all clutter and debris. Any debris may be responsible for the issue, and you can very easily blow into the port to clean it out. If it still doesn’t work then the port itself is broken, and therefore inoperable…

SD Card Does Not Have Enough Storage

The SD card is not utilizing its full gb potential.

SD Card Not Using Full Storage

Given that the ZTE Maven can carry around 8 gb in total, your phone may be notifying you of this by saying, “not enough storage.” If this is the case, purchasing a completely new SD card with a larger gb amount could solve your issue of storage. The recommended gb for this particular phone is a 32 gb.

Cache is Full

Even though you have a new SD card with a larger amount of storage available, your phone may be reverting back to, “not enough storage.” If this is the case, here’s a quick step by step procedure provided by the phone’s carrier, AT&T, that may help your new SD card become available.

Try a wipe off of the partition on the phone and it should clear this. You will not lose any information on the phone. You can do this by following these steps:

Press power>home>volume up at the same time. As soon as you do this, you'll see installing system update. You can then let go of the all the buttons (power, home, and volume). After this, you'll then see the android sys recovery menu. This is where you will try the wipe the partition on the phone. Press the volume down key to navigate down to wipe cache partition. Press power to select and once the cache has been wiped you'll see “reboot system now.” Select that option with the power button and the screen will show wiping cache and reboot itself. After these steps are taken, your ZTE’s storage should be fully cleared and ready to use.

Blocked Screen

If your device sometimes freezes, remove the case to check if it prevents the touch screen from functioning. Then remove the SD memory card from the device.

If removing the case and SD memory card didn’t solve the problem, then try checking the memory storage in the device settings and ensure you are not near capacity. Black clock screensaver mac.

Low Battery

If the screen is black or unresponsive, the device may need to be charged

Check if the device has any signs of battery power being on, like lights, ringing, vibrations or alerts.

If the device is still not showing any signs of power, remove the SD memory card from the device (the SD card may be reinserted at the end of troubleshooting).

If removing the SD memory card didn’t fix the problem, try charging and turning on your device:

  1. Remove the device case.
  2. Confirm the charger and cable type.
  3. Plug your device into a power outlet, and make sure the device is charging.
    • Some devices won’t turn on until the battery has enough charge. This could take 15 minutes or more.
  4. Turn on the device by pressing the Power key for 10 to 15 seconds or until the device turns on.
  5. If unable to power on the device, perform a force restart.

If the screen still won’t turn on

  • Use a different charger cable or power adapter (make sure the charger is from the company that made your device).
  • Use a wireless charger to determine if the device charging port is damaged.
  • Unplug from power strip, if applicable.
  • Make sure the wall outlet works by plugging in another device. If not, try a different outlet.
  • Plug cord into another power source (e.g. car charger, computer USB port, or other compatible USB-powered device).
  • Make sure lint or other debris is not clogging the charger port and port is not loose or damaged.

SD Card Malfunction

Remove the case to check if it prevents the touch screen from functioning.

  2. Complete the following until sufficient storage capacity
    • Clear internal storage cached data (use the tutorial above)
    • Delete large applications, files (videos, pictures), or consider alternatives to deleting files.
    • Free up Google Photos device storage
    • Transfer files to a computer or MicroSD Card
    • Consider a larger or newer MicroSD card.
    • Various cloud based services are available which provide storage on the Internet saving phone space.

Force restart the device

Close all applications and make sure they are not running in the background.

This may speed up the device. Too many apps in the background can slow the device

Audio is Distorted

The speakers on your ZTE Maven have poor sound quality.

Do zte phones have sim cards

Blocked Speakers

Test the audio through the speakers, then compare the sound using headphones. If the audio is only muffled or distorted while the headphones are not attached, the speakers may only be blocked. Low-quality audio is often a sign of the speaker or microphone being blocked by dust, phone case, so make sure the speakers and microphone are clean and uncovered.

Outdated Software

If the audio is distorted or cutting out while listening through both the speaker and headphones, the device software may not be up to date. To update the phone, make sure the phone is fully charged before going to the Settings—>Software Update—>Update. This process will restart the phones and clean out any bugs left behind by the previous software. To verify a software update, go to Settings—> About Phone—>make sure the Android Version, Baseband Version, and Build Number match the update details.

Incorrect Settings

Poor Audio is often caused by the settings needing to be adjusted. To check this, make sure that Airplane Mode is off, this setting tends to block all connections to mobile network. Disabling Call Forwarding will ensure that calls come directly to your device while turning off Do Not Disturb will stop blocking any incoming calls. You may also want to check the SIM Card. If it says “ Insert SIM” or “Emergency Call Only”, remove and either reinsert or replace the SIM Card. In order to accomplish the replacement of the SIM card, please refer to this guide. Checking Wi-Fi connection will lead to better service and higher quality audio.

Blown Loudspeaker

The loudspeaker of the phone is what makes it possible to talk on the speakerphone, play music, and hear alert notifications. IF the loudspeaker is defective or blown, the phone may display several symptoms: No sound production through earpiece, crackling audio, or intermittent audio issues. If these symptoms occur, the loudspeaker may need to be replaced. Replace the loudspeaker using this guide.
